Course Description
This course will provide an overview of the history of police as investigators and examine the community dynamics as they relate to police investigators. Students will gain knowledge of police investigations by engaging in practical experience exercises by investigating a Homicide Case Study. Students will understand the importance of probable cause, the 36/48 hour rule to criminally charge an individual, explore the dynamics and importance of victim/witness contact and interviewing, and also explore the collection, evaluation, and analysis of evidence for case presentation and court testimony. This course counts as an elective for CCJ majors, CCJ minors, and FS minors. Prerequisite: CJFS 1120
