Course Description
This class addresses basic art and design skills in drawing and composition, as well as principles of two-dimensional design from a fine arts stance. With an emphasis on the perceptual - drawing from observation, what you see not what you know. Students will also have the opportunity to practice three-dimensional design. This course is specifically designed for students interested in exploring their creativity and developing foundational skills in art and design with an eye toward being a studio art major. The course will be organized into thematic modules, including perspective, color, theory, value, space, shape, experimentation, materials and tools, expression, and invention and construction. All skill levels can sign up. This class holds the prerequisite for Painting and Printmaking. Materials to come out of student course fees. This course has 5 seats reserved for first-year students and 5 seats reserved for Art majors. If you attempt to register for this course and receive a Registration Add Error message with the status “Reserved Closed”, the remaining seats are reserved.
