Course Description
This course will introduce teachers to the research and theory that supports content-based language instruction (CBI) and its application to elementary and secondary language immersion classrooms. There will be an emphasis on identifying the kind of language that needs to be explicitly taught within the context of the elementary and secondary curriculum and providing opportunities for immersion students to use age-appropriate metalinguistic skills to develop advanced proficiency in their immersion language. Participants will have the opportunity to develop curriculum and create materials that they can use in their own language immersion classrooms.
