Course Description
Kids young and old are fascinated by birds and bugs. Use these topics to teach science content through multidisciplinary lessons throughout the year. Use the high interest topics of birds and bugs to engage students in science lessons that meet grade level standard for classification, living systems, life cycles, structure and function, and more. Participate in indoor and outdoor observation, lectures, discussions, and activities. Bird topics include: bird identification, bird body structure and function, ecology and behavior, and observation skills. Explore insects through: taxonomy lessons, collecting and studying specimens, and identifying life cycles and niches. Disocver and rediscover how birds and bugs can work as vehicles to drive science lessons and also extend opportunities to connect science learning with skills in reading, writing, math, geography, art, and more. Target audience: educators 2-12. Please note: this course can fulfill requirements of the Environmental Education certificate.
