Course Description
Examine current issues pertaining to special populations within college admission counseling. Focus on college counseling special groups including under-represented students (students of color, first generation, low socio-economical status), undocumented students, students with disabilities, home school students, and adult learners. Learn about College Access Programs, such as AVID, Upward Bound, Admission Possible, and TRIO. Target audience: Junior high, middle and high school counselors; career center specialists and teachers of career classes; individuals interested in developing an independent college-counseling practice. NOTE: This course is required for completion of the College Admissions Counseling Certificate.
