Course Description

Fascinated observers have always grappled with questions concerning the physical origin, workings, and behavior of the universe. Trace the historic path of discovery and exploration through reading scientist-authored essays, online interaction, streaming video, and web resources. Changing understandings of motion, time, space, matter, and energy will be pursued through the ideas of the ancient Greek philosophers, Galileo Galilei, Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein. Discuss how the future might reframe these big concepts and constructs. Offered in partnership with the American Museum of Natural History. Please register 2 weeks prior to course start date to ensure receipt of any course materials. Accelerated online schedule. Target audience: educators 6-12, adult learners. Note: Shortly before the course begins, you will receive an email directly from AMNH providing information on how to access the online course. The e-mail will go to your "preferred" e-mail address (as listed in the Hamline database), and you should receive it by the week prior to the course start. Courses offered in partnership with AMNH are nonrefundable after the start date of the course. Please contact gcs@hamline.edu for the current tuition rate.
