Abstract
The research question addressed in this project was, how can implementing a mentoring program improve educational outcomes in an Army ROTC program? It documents one instructor’s creation of a peer and career mentoring program in an undergraduate department. The project was created to solve an achievement gap among lateral entry and traditional progression cadets. The project was designed to incorporate best practices of peer mentoring (Eby et al, 2008) and career mentoring (Crisp, 2017). A major component of the work involves best practices and lessons learned on implementing a mentoring program and implications for future use in any undergraduate setting. The author outlines the construction of the project and literature related to the educational benefits of mentoring.
