Abstract
The research question addressed in this project was, how can technology be used to organize geography, art, music and biology to help students see the diversity of the human experience? It documents one teacher’s creation of a geographically based curriculum that includes political, social and economic information, as well as artistic creations, musical performances, and biological profiles unique to the region. The project was created for use in a one to one iPad environment in a fourth grade classroom. The project is designed using the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning (Mayer, 2001) and the Framework for 21st century learning (http://www.p21.org/about-us/p21-framework ). A major component of the work involves the role of student choice and technological enhancements to make the project accessible to a variety of learners. The author outlines the construction of the project and literature related to student benefit in studying these grouped disciplines.
