Abstract
Many school communities are beginning to change and the student achievement gap is growing larger and larger for children in minority groups. As the student population changes, teachers may want to consider facilitating a Culturally Responsive framework for the benefit of all diverse learners in their classrooms to increase their engagement. Thus, moving many steps closer to closing the achievement gap. As I initiated a Culturally Responsive Practices into my third grade classroom, I found there was more student engagement because they were given choice and voice and were held to high classroom expectations and educational standards. This capstone encompasses the implementation of a Culturally Responsive framework from the first day of school and the student engagement as a result of it.
