Abstract
This capstone explores the link between social skills development in kindergarten and its continued impact upon students throughout their schooling. This capstone seeks to answer the question: How can teaching explicit social skills in the area of body awareness and communication impact prosocial behaviors in a kindergarten classroom? Based on the findings of the research, a kindergarten social skills curriculum was created that focuses on recognizing emotions, friendships, kindness, and giving. The curriculum works to provide comprehensive and developmentally appropriate lessons that are engaging, and include real world application of skills.
