Abstract
The research question addressed in this project is, how can I design a system that encourages ninth grade Intermediate Algebra students to master ten specific learning targets through a series of retake options before they leave my classroom? The motivation for this project was to increase achievement in a class with historically lower achieving students. It documents the creation of a system that can be put into place to address issues of social promotion, standards-based grading, student motivation, and retention of mathematical content. The culmination of the project is a computer program that can quickly generate individualized quizzes for students based off of required learning targets, along with a way to assess whether or not a student receives credit for the course.
