Abstract
This project outlines historical precedents and current teacher experiences of teaching evolutionary theory in the United States and more specifically, Minnesota. The author interviewed a variety of teachers in urban and first-tier suburban Minnesota to gain insight to their personal experiences teaching evolutionary theory. The teachers invariably stated that evolutionary theory is fundamentally central to understanding biological science. Despite controversy surrounding evolutionary theory being prominent in the literature, the teacher subjects had experienced collectively very little.
