Abstract
The topic addressed in this project was, how can a curriculum be designed to motivate foreign language students to become lifelong learners? The author reflects on her own experiences in foreign language classrooms and conducts research on existing literature to explore teaching strategies that aim to inspire students to become passionate about the subject matter, which in this case is French. Based on what was uncovered, the author designs a three-week unit that leads students through a journey of discovery. Students are made aware of the benefits they can experience through proficiency in French, from recreational opportunities to career options. The unit also exposes students to the resources available to them in their community and online so that they know how to continue their learning outside the classroom and beyond.
