Abstract
This capstone addresses the questions of how do the standards, curriculum, and textbooks used for teaching fourth-grade mathematics in Minnesota (USA) compare with those used in Gujarat (India)? The motivating factor for this study was the necessity of mathematics education to enrich personal and professional lives of individual students. Through works of various researchers, the author learned about the area of study and compiled a literature review. The author collected the data to study two systems in a cross-cultural comparison for the teaching of fourth-grade mathematics in the states of Minnesota (USA) and Gujarat (India). The author recommends extending the research before generalizing the results.
