Abstract
The research question addressed is how can a third grade social studies curriculum be developed using role-playing and simulations as a major instructional strategy? This capstones main focus was creating a curriculum that involves role-playing and simulations as a major instructional method. Many history classes in elementary schools have students reading out of a textbook or doing worksheets to pass the time. The reader is allowed to see the positive and negative aspects that teachers and students may experience when using role-playing or simulations. The curriculum created for this capstone gives teachers an in-depth look on how to incorporate these methods in their classroom.
