Abstract
The research question addressed in this project was, how did implementing a standards-based, data-driven instructional system at ABC Charter School Group during the 2010-2011 school year effect student achievement? This capstone documents a K-8 charter school in Minneapolis during its transition to a data-driven system of instruction. The author includes definitions and examples relating to data-driven instruction and a history of standards-based education since the publication of A Nation at Risk in 1983. This capstone analyzes Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCA) testing data and finds significant improvement in student academic achievement at ABC Charter School Group following their implementation of a data-driven instructional system. Additionally, this capstone offers suggestions for additional improvements at ABC Charter School Group and proposes future research projects. A primary influence for the creation of this capstone was the book Driven By Data, written by Paul Bambrick-Santoyo.
