Abstract
The research topic addressed in this thesis is: effective strategies that provide support and enhance the learning for strong readers. Strong readers often times do not get the enrichment they need during the school day. This research set out to investigate specific strategies that can be taken during guided reading groups to push strong readers to the next level in their reading development. The research found to support these strategies is extensive and thought-provoking. By using a structured guided reading framework and incorporating reciprocal teaching strategies, the action research of this project engages and supports strong readers.
