Abstract
The research question addressed in this capstone was, “How can interactive read alouds promote student engagement and build classroom community?” It explores research around interactive read alouds, student engagement and classroom community. The capstone describes the importance of interactive read alouds and the ability they have to increase student engagement and create a stronger sense of community within the classroom. The goal of this capstone was to provide teachers with interactive read aloud lesson plans that will engage students in essential literacy skills while increasing a student’s connectedness to the classroom community.
