Abstract
The study for this thesis served to answer two questions regarding the use of music in the classroom. The use of music to teach the limited use of the modal auxiliaries 'can' and 'will' in a senior high level 1 ESL classroom was researched. The study consisted of two groups of students. The first group received lessons on 'can' and 'will' with the use of music and the second group received the lessons without the use of music. The students were surveyed regarding their opinions on the use of music (or lack thereof) in their lessons. The qualitative and quantitative results were assessed and documented through pre-assessments, post-assessments and personal interviews. All forms of data support the use of music in the retention of the lessons.
