Abstract
The research question addressed in this project was: how do three K-12 educational leaders describe effective leadership? It documents, in a semi-structured qualitative way, each participant's viewpoint on effective leadership in relation to their educational position. Key influences for this capstone were Peter Northouse and Michael Fullan, who each presented different viewpoints in their literature on how leadership can be adapted to various leadership positions in a wide variety of industries. The literature review discusses the various leadership styles one can have along with what specific qualities effective leaders should acquire. It goes on to analyze the correlations between management and leadership, and how these methods can be modified for the educational setting.
