Abstract
The research question addressed in this project was, how can primary writing instruction support the development of struggling readers in a Response to Intervention (RTI) framework? This capstone describes the correlation between reading and writing. Students in an RTI framework were taught four strategies that are mutually beneficial to reading and writing development. The strategies that were taught include making connections, questioning, summarizing, and visualizing.
