Abstract
The research question addressed in this capstone is: how does the use of an interactive whiteboard contribute to the engagement of students in an early childhood special education-Autism classroom? The motivation for this capstone was derived from one teacher's daily use of an interactive whiteboard the teacher wanted to make sure that this was an engaging and meaningful tool. The author reviewed the use of the interactive whiteboard in her classroom, but also received input on how the interactive whiteboard was being used in other classrooms. Students' attentiveness and engagement to the interactive whiteboard was monitored and formulated into quantitative data. The author describes the benefits, potential drawbacks, and future implications of using an interactive whiteboard in an early childhood special education classroom.
