Abstract
The research question addressed in this project is, how do ninth grade high school students describe their experiences of the Readers Theater process? The impetus behind this capstone project was the researchers interest in theatre and thinking of ways to incorporate it into the classroom. This reading strategy was discovered while the researcher was taking an introductory literacy class. The author documents current research on Readers Theater, students' attitudes towards reading and students attitudes' towards theater. The author developed a Readers Theater project for his classroom and documented students' attitudes. Through this research, the author discovered that 1) students had positive reactions towards Readers Theater because of the group setting and 2) students enjoyed Readers Theater because it was a different strategy than was used in their high school experience, and 3) students disliked Readers Theater because of its repetitive nature and performance aspect.
