Abstract
When teaching, educators need to be creative in capturing and retaining the attention and interest of their students. Educators know engagement is of utmost necessity in order for learning to take place however, engagement is especially difficult for learners with special needs. Technology and music each has the independent capability to captivate and engage so, hypothetically, integrating both music and technology should have an even more powerful impact on learning. This research investigates in what ways integrating music with an interactive whiteboard improves learning for students with special needs. A curriculum was designed integrating musical You Tube videos with the use of an interactive whiteboard. Not only were the students engaged in learning their academic, behavioral and social skills improved while doing it.
