Abstract

The research question addressed in this project was, how do word study strategies and techniques enhance the spelling and writing of high school students with learning disabilities? The motivating factor for this capstone was the continual struggle students with learning disabilities have attempting to correctly spell words in daily written work. This capstone discusses various forms of spelling instruction, and documents the methods and procedures used in word study activities. Data is provided to reflect improved spelling of high school students with learning disabilities on both spelling pre- and post-tests, as well as in daily written work.
