Abstract
The research question addressed in this capstone was How do Eighth Grade Advanced Language Arts students describe the influence of wikispace discussions on their ability to self-evaluate whether they have met the expectations of class? Research on Web 2.0 tools, wikis, self-evaluations, and gifted education give context for this action research study. Students in an advanced section of 8th grade Language Arts posted weekly reflections on a wiki. The prompts asked them to evaluate their progress in regards to state standards. Observations of face-to-face class time, monitoring of the wiki posts, and interview questions were used as data collection tools to inquire about the students' experiences. Over all the experience was positive for the students, and the wiki posts did influence their ability to self-evaluate.
