Abstract
The research question addressed in this curriculum capstone was: What character education themes emerge from the literature in writing curriculum for extracurricular programs? The rationale for this capstone was to deepen the meaning and increase the overall experience for athletes participating in high school athletics by creating a character education curriculum. Key influences for this capstone were the Understanding by Design model by Wiggins and McTighe and the Teaching for Understanding Concept. As the author, I developed lessons that corresponded to the emerging character education themes from my research. This curriculum could be used in other male and female extra-curricular activities in a high school setting.
