Abstract
The research question addressed in this project was, what are effective peer review strategies to use in a middle school communication arts classroom? The motivating factor for this capstone was the need to devise a strategy to provide students with feedback that would have meaning and fulfill their desire to have affirmation on their writing. This capstone documents the effectiveness of three different peer review strategies in a middle school classroom. Key influences in developing this capstone were the works of many educators who also questioned peer review and thus developed strategies to implement them in the classroom. The author researched several peer review strategies and identified three to use for action research. The research showed that there are positive and negative reactions to peer review and the most effective method is a compilation of strategies based on the make-up of a classroom.
