Abstract
This study examined whether playing high school sports, influences and improves an athlete's character. This study was instigated by the researcher's curiosity of whether or not, playing high school sports positively affects an athlete's character. The intent was to provide information, affirming that participating in team sports, improves an athlete's character. The qualitative research was collected via questionnaires given to the athletes, and their parents, of a varsity high school hockey team. Twenty sets of parents and twenty players were surveyed, and asked what their beliefs were in relation to sports, and whether or not participating in a sport, builds character. Findings from this project suggest that sports do indeed, positively affect an athlete's character.
