Abstract
The inspiring factor for my capstone is my passion for children with autism. Developing strategies that work for students on the autism spectrum so that they can be successfully included in kindergarten classrooms is essential for successful inclusion. Primary influences in my research included P. Kluth, B. Crisman, and J. Janzen. To develop answers to my capstone question an extensive literature review was done, interviews were conducted and a survey was sent to both general education kindergarten teachers and special education teachers. Consulting with specialists, teaming and structuring teaching are a few of the elements needed to effectively create inclusive kindergarten classrooms for students on the autism spectrum.
