Abstract
The research question addressed in this project was: What strategies can middle school choir directors use to promote and educate students about vocal health during the male voice change? The motivating factor for this capstone was the author's vocal health problems during his middle school years. He is now a teacher and wanted to discover strategies that could be used to help eliminate vocal health issues that can occur in male students during the voice change. This capstone documents five strategies that middle school choir teachers can use to educate their male students about the voice change. It also lays out an implementation plan for middle school choir directors. Key influences for this research project were J. M. Cooksey, P. Lapine, E. Crocker, P. Freer, and L. Thurman.
