Abstract
This capstone is a curriculum that I developed to teach third graders how to read pitches on the treble clef by incorporating activities that use the multiple intelligences. This project starts with a reflection of my past when I was a student and how I learned best. Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligence is discussed and an explanation of each individual intelligence is provided. Research on the positive effects of using the multiple intelligences in the classroom is presented to the reader and teacher success stories are shared. Choices of methodology for this curriculum are explained. These topics include: National and State Music Standards, Curriculum Mapping, assessments, self-reflection, journaling and observation. Also included is a detailed explanation of each lesson plan, assessments and other resources needed throughout the unit plan.
