Abstract

In this study, the author searched for student voices to the question: How would seventh grade students describe their engagement in learning when project-based learning is implemented in their health classroom? This study involved 10 randomly selected seventh grade students in an elective health class, in which instruction was modified from more traditional instruction, like discussions, lectures, and role-plays, to project-based learning. Participants completed multiple data collection tools about engagement in learning with project-based learning. After reviewing the participants' data, major findings, in the participants' language, were discovered. The frequency of positive descriptions of engagement in project-based learning greatly exceeded the negative descriptions.
