Abstract
The research question addressed in this project was, how has the literacy in a responsive classroom workshop, using active literacy, changed teacher practice during the elementary reading block? It documents the follow up to implementation after completion of a workshop around literacy and the Responsive Classroom. The motivating factor for this capstone was to determine if teachers were implementing instructional strategies as a result of attending the workshop. Although results were favorable with implementation of Responsive Classroom practices, teachers still struggle with the time and planning to prepare engaging, independent and group literacy practice for their students. The author documents what strategies teachers felt valuable, and what strategies would be helpful in future workshops.
