Abstract
This capstone is the study of how parents and teachers in an elementary school perceive the relative importance of the arts, specifically music, to an elementary school curriculum. When school budgets are limited, arts are often the first curriculum area to be reduced both the literature and parent and teacher voices indicate the importance of music for both a well-rounded education and for improving academic achievement.
