Abstract
This capstone is based upon best practices in teaching reading comprehension strategies with consideration of the effects of memory acquisition and recall. If one believes there is no distinction between learning and memory, then comprehension and recall are inextricably linked. Students who comprehend text while reading and engaging with text, but who cannot recall this same text after a short time delay, need the addition of elaborative rehearsal and repeated retrieval interventions.
