Abstract
My research and paper resulted from observations I have made in my beginning fifth grade instrumental music program pertaining to students who do not experience success. I researched the benefits of mentorship programs as they pertain to instrumental music and other subjects as well. In my literature review I studied several successful mentoring programs throughout the country and how they are set up and maintained. I was particularly interested in using high school students as mentors. After concluding that mentoring is highly beneficial, I was able to discover and generate specific important elements when designing a proposal for a beginning band mentorship program for students who risk not succeeding.
