Abstract
The voluntary mobility of teachers who leave schools and districts impacts not only those people who move, but also the students and school communities that they serve. In an effort to answer the question What are the reasons for voluntary teacher mobility?, current research has identified eight common reasons for voluntary mobility. The impact of these factors is presented along with possible strategies for prevention. An action research project is designed around a number of these variables. The results of the action research and links to expert research are presented and analyzed. The information from this capstone leads to a new avenue of research: Why do teachers stay?.
