Abstract
The research question addressed in this project is how will teaching sixth grade student to create intrinsically motivated goals and action plans affect their attitudes about healthy eating and exercise and increase their intrinsic drive and feelings of self efficacy? Health habits or lack there of, are causing a plethora of health concerns including the leading causes of death cancer, heart disease, and stroke. Obesity is increasing at an alarming rate. We must arm our children with knowledge about how healthy habits are important in their lives if they want to achieve the highest level of success. An intrinsically driven, competent individual will be successful. Teaching sixth grade students to create intrinsically motivated goals and actions plans does affect their attitudes about healthy eating and exercise and increases their intrinsic drive and feelings of self efficacy.
