Abstract
The underrepresentation of females in the professional sciences is clear. Further research into this situation started the journey into painful personal experiences and eventually through the public education system. The research defined instructional strategy known as the learning cycle emerged in the research as an effective tool and consequently was implemented in a sixth grade science classroom over a period lasting four school weeks. Nine girls within that classroom participated in a secondary analysis of work completed during that four week period to determine if a change occurred in their respective attitudes and achievement in regards to science. Data triangulation was utilized in order to receive more accurate results. The findings were encouraging and provided many insights into the thoughts of middle school girls and their feelings towards science.
