Abstract
The research question addressed is, would physical education prior to academic testing improve the test scores? The motivating factor for this capstone was to improve academic tests and relieve stress in testing situations. This capstone details the taking of academic tests with and without prior physical activity. Key influence for this capstone was the current research by John J. Ratey on how physical activity increases students' achievement in the academic classroom. The author compared tests in the subject areas of math, spelling, reading, and science. Four tests given with prior physical activity and four tests given without prior physical activity. Results were inconclusive.
