Abstract

The research question addressed is: what is the research supported guidelines I can share with parents when deciding between half-day or full-day kindergarten? This capstone details the creation of a brochure to guide parents as they decide between half-day or full-day everyday kindergarten programs. The brochure highlights five major areas supported by research literature history of kindergarten, advantages of full-day kindergarten, advantages of half-day kindergarten, how to make the choice, and is my child on track- characteristics of three to eight year old children. The author describes his journey to the question through his experience as a teacher and as a parent.
