Abstract
Bullying in the adolescent community has been a longstanding problem. Most people have been affected in one way or another with the effects of bullying. The author works in a typical junior high school where the students range in age from 12 to 15. She has seen a lot of bullying behavior. The author researched the many reasons behind the bullying and the ways to change that behavior. One key researcher that influenced her study was Dr. Dan Olweus. He created an award winning bullying program. She found that building a strong community within the school helps deter bullying. The author used a community building bingo game to help build that community. When adolescents begin to care about the other students in the school they tend to empathize with each other and the bullying begins to decrease.
