Abstract
How can I implement effective teaching strategies into the social studies curriculum using Thinking Maps? This capstone project is a curriculum writing process designed to test Thinking Maps as an effective tool for helping students think and understand text. The Thinking Maps were designed to assess essential high order thinking skills. The implementation took fifteen days. The results yielded were positive based upon formative assessments throughout the implementation period. Students were able to summarize the text, with confidence and competence, while using the Thinking Maps.
