Abstract
In addition to data collected for this study, research was based on past experiences with public education workshops. Information learned from this research will help increase the effectiveness of future environment messages presented to the public. Conducting an environmental workshop was required to collect data for this research. Background included collecting data on motivating factors and ways to conduct an effective presentation. The workshop topic was residential applications for renewable energy. Participants completed a survey following the workshop. Weather became a huge factor greatly reducing participation. Therefore a webinar was added to increase data levels. Based on data from this research, the greatest way to increase the effectiveness of environmental education workshops was focus the discussion on financial points. Environmental and social points had minimal effect on increasing the effectiveness. Demographic data showed participants were primarily middle class, from 21-49 years old with an associate degree or higher.
