Miranda and Dash, outcasts on their very first day of summer camp, find a turnstile in the middle of Central Park and embark on (in the words of the narrator) “an adventure involving a magical subway, hidden facets of New York City, a menagerie of unbelievable creatures, and—but why am I telling you all this when it is just about to begin?”
