Abstract
The research question addressed for this capstone was, how I can implement writer's workshop as a tool to teach writing in my 7th grade English class? The research showed the key components of teaching writing to be modeling writing for real, authentic purposes providing choice creating an culture of writing in a classroom incorporating the writing process and simply writing, writing, writing, and writing some more across the curriculum. It was found that Nancie Atwell's writer's workshop was the best avenue to implement these components. To incorporate these staples into her classroom, the author developed an plan for implementation of writer's workshop in her seventh grade English classroom.
