Abstract
The research question addressed in this project was: in what ways can tutoring in an ESL classroom benefit students' achievement in a Pre-Algebra class? This capstone shows both the advantages and disadvantages of using a tutoring program within an ESL math class. It documents how the tutoring was beneficial to all involved and offers some key areas of concern to watch for when implementing a program. Students in the class came from a variety of ethnic groups, including both Hispanic and Somali cultures.
