Course Description
Goals: Develop a basic knowledge of tonal harmony. Content: Musical analysis, basic harmonic progression, principles of voice leading, elements of composition, sight-singing, and aural training including computer-based instruction. Course work requires basic piano skills. Taught: Annually, spring term. Prerequisites: MUS 1210 or 3220 or 3510 (or concurrent registration in one of the three) and self-administered test on department website. Note: In addition to the regularly scheduled class time, there is a required one hour per week solfege lab. Meeting time will be determined at the start of the term. Credits: 4
