Course Description
The U.S. was involved in the Middle East from the early years of the Republic. The first U.S. international war was with North African countries to free enslaved sailors. This course focuses on the history of American Foreign involvement and policies in the Middle East from the Early Republic to our times, with a greater emphasis on the 20th century. We will examine among others the American involvement with Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Syria.
